1. Who we are

Origo is a trading name of Origo Collective (Pty) Ltd, a South African registered company. We are the responsible party for the personal information collected through withorigo.com and our social media and other online accounts. You can reach us at graham@withorigo.com.

2. What we collect

When you enquire: your name, email address, phone number, country of residence, how you prefer to be contacted, and any trip details you choose to share.

When you subscribe to our letters: your email address, and your name or birthday (month and day only) if you choose to give them.

When you message us on Instagram or Facebook, or use our automated replies: your messages and public profile name.

When you visit our website: your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view, the links you click (including which journey or brochure PDF you open), and how you arrived.

If you travel with us: the details needed to arrange your journey, such as passport details, dietary needs and health information relevant to the trip. We ask for these only when needed, and with your consent.

3. Why we use it

To reply to your enquiry and plan your journey. To send our letters and an occasional birthday note, with your consent. To understand how our website is used and improve it. To measure our advertising and show relevant ads, with your consent where the law requires it. To meet our legal obligations and protect our business.

4. Cookies and similar tools

We use necessary cookies that make the site work, analytics cookies (Google Analytics) that show how it is used, and advertising cookies (the Meta Pixel) that help us measure our ads and show relevant ads to people who have visited, for example those who opened a journey PDF. These tools are active when you visit our site. We do not currently direct our advertising to people in the EU, the UK or Quebec. You can limit them through your browser's privacy settings, through Google's Analytics opt-out tools, and through your ad preferences on Meta. Under some US state laws, advertising tools like these can count as sharing for targeted advertising, and you can use the same controls to opt out. If we begin directing advertising to the EU or UK, we will add a cookie banner that asks for your consent first.

5. Who we share it with

Providers that process information on our behalf: Squarespace (our website), Cloudflare (delivery and security), Google (analytics and email), Meta (Instagram, Facebook and advertising), Mailchimp (our letters), ManyChat (automated messages) and Linktree (our link page). If you book, we share what is needed with the suppliers who deliver your journey, such as yacht operators, lodges and guides. We may disclose information where the law requires it, or in a sale of our business. We do not sell your personal information for money.

6. Sending information abroad

Many of these providers store information outside South Africa, including in the United States and Europe. We take reasonable steps to keep it protected.

7. How long we keep it

Enquiry details for as long as we are in touch with you, then for a reasonable period before deletion. Newsletter details until you unsubscribe. Website analytics for 14 months.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, receive a copy, and withdraw consent at any time. Email us and we will respond. We may need to confirm who you are first. You can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za, or your local data protection authority in the EU or UK.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. No method of storing or sending data online is completely secure.

10. Children

Our website is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

11. Other sites

Our website links to other sites and platforms. Their privacy policies apply to them.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. The date above shows the latest version, and we will tell you about material changes.
